As an instructional coach, I have the pleasure of being a part of every classroom community in our school. This has been a huge learning experience for me considering most of my experience had been with 4th - 8th graders. I am now working with Kindergarten through 8th grade students and teachers. And sometimes, we have just a little too much fun!

Luck O' the Irish
We had several classrooms invaded by leprechauns this past St. Patrick's Day! All three Kindergarten rooms came to school that day to find tiny little green footprints all over their classrooms and their pots of gold stolen! These tricky little leprechauns even made it into the bathrooms where they left evidence all over!

Science Fair: 2013
Each year our middle school science teachers host a Science Fair for the school. Grades K-8 all participate. This year was a great success!
Career Fair: 2013
Every year we provide a career fair experience for all of our 6th - 8th grade students. This event is well attended by members of our community's local businesses and their owners. This is an incredible experience for our students. They are often inspired by this event and eyes are opened to new life experiences.
The Great Outdoors
Often times our students come to us never having spent any time outside. There are many causes for this - video games, computers, lack of safety to play outside in the neighborhood. Each year we take our 7th and 8th grade students to Richfield Park. For many of them, it is their first experience with real nature. This trip in the early fall builds excellent relationship and community each year.

Music, Art & Physical Education
From time to time during the school year, it is not unusual to hear music thumping from the gym. As you walk by, you see entire grade levels (75 kids!) dancing! We encourage blending multiple disciplines together and our Specials team does this well. In this picture you see students learning how to do the Thriller dance made popular by Michael Jackson.

Building Community
We participate in the PeaceBuilders program. This program helps our students become better citizens. Pictured on the right is an example of Praise Notes. Students can give anyone a praise note but they must give that person very specific praise. It can be for picking up trash without being asked, helping someone on the playground who has fallen, or giving someone a pencil when they have lost theirs.

Character Building Magic
This year we had a magician visit our Kindergarten through 4th grade students. This mother-son duo revealed character traits through magic tricks. Students were intrigued and some even participated in an after-school activity to learn the magic behind the magic!
